Food and more so the process of its preparation is symbolic of Filipino affection.

Filipinos are very expressive in the way they communicate but their ways are not always direct and linear in the manners expected within westernized culture. 


Beyond words....

  • Filipinos speak with their bodies (have you seen children in school laughing in circles)?
  • With gestures, the movement of the eyebrows speak hundreds of meanings.
  • With unusual sounds like pssst and tsk, tsk, tsk that seem to mimic sounds of nature
  • The heaviness of the feet that may indicate strong or light emotions

These expressions are difficult to translate in Westernized cultures that heavily rely on verbal expressions.

Language and non-verbal language are both beautiful ways to speak your love languages.
